Japan - where old and new meet head on!

It was fantastic to return to Japan this year - there really is nowhere quite like it! The bustling streets of Tokyo must be seen to be believed - day and night - from the incredibly ancient customs and architecture to the incredibly modern technology and bullet trains. Japan offers so much from a cultural perspective, visitors are well looked after and it is a clean and a relatively safe country.

From a farming perspective, it was fascinating to visit farmers in different environments - from greenhouses within Tokyo city limits, to the expansive tea fields in the mountains. We visited Wagyu breeders and saw precision rice planting, took a look at dairy and some of Japan's specialities like mushroom and wasabi. The wholesale markets with local produce (including a few tuna in Tokyo) were impressive, as was the ornate way the Japanese present food in the retail markets and department stores - quite something.
