Farm To Farm Tours is managed by founder, Ross Macmillan, an agricultural graduate from Lincoln University with more than 35 years experience in agricultural consultancy and tour operation. The company is a founding member of Agricultural Tour Operators International (ATOI), a professional body promoting quality tour operations and global partnerships and an allied member of the Tourism Export Council of New Zealand (TEC).
Ross Macmillan - Managing Director
Ross is the experienced and enthusiastic founder of Farm To Farm Tours. Ross graduated with a B.Agr.Sc. degree from Lincoln University and worked as a farm consultant for many years, initially for the New Zealand Government agency and then in private practice. Ross recognized the need for farmers to travel and learn and established Farm To Farm Tours in 1987.
Ross has experience in a wide range of agricultural enterprises including sheep, dairy, beef, deer, arable crops, irrigation, forestry, fruit, wine grapes, tree crops, vegetable production and floriculture. Having travelled extensively internationally, Ross is also familiar with farming systems elsewhere which helps in designing appropriate tour itineraries for the different groups. Ross and his wife Linda live on a small farm near Rangiora, North Canterbury where they produce wine grapes, lucerne hay, cereals, wool and lambs. Desray Geursen – Office Manager
Desray manages Farm To Farm’s office as well as fielding enquiries, handling bookings and leading tours abroad. Desray and her husband live on a small farm near Rangiora so she is very much in touch with the rural lifestyle. Desray has travelled extensively abroad including leading several group tours to the UK & Ireland, South America, Canada, China, Africa and Europe.
Kirstie Macmillan – Tour Manager
Kirstie is well versed in developing tour itineraries and managing an array of operations and logistics for tour groups. Kirstie relishes the opportunity to ensure Farm To Farm's tours exceed expectations and she has travelled extensively, including leading groups to Canada, South America, France and Scandinavia. Prior to joining the family business, Kirstie practised law in New Zealand and the UK, however her passion for New Zealand and Farm To Farm's niche travel was a catalyst for a career change and she hasn't looked back.
James Dixon – Technical Tour Manager
James joined Farm To Farm Tours in late 2010, bringing to the company a strong agribusiness background. With a B.Agr.Sc. from Lincoln, he has farmed in Mid Canterbury, managed a seed export company and more recently his own consultancy has provided agronomic and marketing services to primary sector companies. The role at Farm To Farm developing new business appealed to him as the ideal combination - continued involvement with the primary sector mixed with travel around New Zealand and the globe!
Farm To Farm Tours also works closely with reputable suppliers and organisations and employs other staff, including specialist and foreign language guides, as required.
